WORLD RENOWNED PROFESSOR CHANDRA TO VISIT M.M. UNIVERSITY

World renowned scientist, technologist, educationist, human resource planner and administrator, Professor Ashoka Chandra will be visiting M.M. University, Mullana on 24th August, 2012. He has agreed to be a key note speaker for the upcoming one- day seminar on “Searching Innovative Management & Technology Programs: Industry- Academia Interaction” being organized by M.M. Institute of Management. Prof. Chandra is a multi faceted personality and he is currently holding a lot of key positions in leading government and non- government organizations. He is the Principal Advisor to International Management Institute, New Delhi, Chair Professor at Ministry of IT Chair in Knowledge Economy, Chairman, Government of India Initiative on “Competitiveness in Knowledge Economy”, Chairman, Centre for Management of Innovation and Technology, Centre for Social Sector Governance, IMI, New Delhi, Chairman and HRD Advisor to Commonwealth Secretariat, London. Previously, he has served as Special Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of HRD and Technical Education Advisor, Government of India. He has negotiated and implemented a large number of projects, Indian and International; including over 100 S&T projects under Indo- British Collaboration, 3 World Bank Projects of over $1 billion, and a large number in technical education for the Government of India. He has received many prestigious awards like Platinum Jubilee Gold Medal of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Eminent Engineers Award & National Social Science Award. Prof. Chandra has to his credit a lot of research publications and books in the fields of Solid State Physics, Micro-Wave Propagation, Manpower Planning, Entrepreneurship Development etc.



The objective of one- day Seminar is to deliberate on innovative management and technology related programs which may accelerate the pace of economic growth in the contemporary world; and also help in achieving sustainable development across the countries in the world. Since 2008, the world economy is facing financial crisis and sovereign debt crisis in Europe has further reduced the chance of early recovery of output growth, trade and investment in the global economy. As a consequence of this, the employment levels are shrinking all over the world. To achieve this, industry and academia need to design such innovative programs in management and technology which may be the “optimum mix” of the two, management and technology.   Prof MK Jain, Kurukshetra University, Professor Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Director, UIAMS, Punjab University and Professor Manoj K Sharma, Punjab University are some other eminent personalities who will be sharing their views about the topic.
