Lady Brabourne College

Lady Brabourne College is one of the premier Institutions for women's education in India. Established by the Government of Bengal in July 1939. All undergraduate courses conducted by the college are affiliated to the University of Calcutta. Being affiliated to Calcutta University, the College follows the existing B.A./B.Sc. (1+1+1 system) under New regulation introduced by the University in 2005. At the post graduate level Calcutta University has permitted the college to conduct autonomous M.Sc courses in Geography, Microbiology, Physics and Mathematics and M.A. course in English Literatures.
The college consists of 20 departments in various disciplines in the Arts and Science streams, all of which conduct both honours and general courses excepting the Computer Science department which only offer general course and Geography and Microbiology which only offer honours courses.
Lady Brabourne College has an excellent faculty of about 130 high qualified and experienced teachers in various departments. The institute has good infrastructure with latest facilities. The campus consists of internet connectivity, Language Lab, Knowledge Centre and e-learning centre a well-stocked library with over 18,000 books and journals. Lady Brabourne College encourages students to participate in sports events and has a sports ground for basketball, tennis, volleyball, hockey, cricket and football along with a common room for indoor games like chess, carom, Table Tennis, etc. The Institute has hostel facilities girls with all latest facilities.
The college conducts many cultural and extracurricular events every year which are managed by student clubs. The College campus is also equipped with an air-conditioned Auditorium for seminars with facility of audio-video aid. The Institute also invites guest faculties for the guidance of students and to resolve their concerns regarding the curriculum.
