Holkar Science College

Holkar Science College is affiliated to Devi Ahilya University of Indore. The state govt. of Madhya Pradesh declared it as a Model College in 1985-86. It was given a status of an Autonomous College in 1988 by D.A. University with the consent of the state govt. And U.G.C.., New Delhi. In 1994-95 it was declared as a centre of excellence by the sate govt. Quality research work was also done in Physics, Mathematics, Botany & Zoology Subjects. Now also the college is known as a prime centre of research.
The college is counted among the few renowned institutions for its rich library of rare books and journals and devoted teachers. Besides fundamental science subjects, research work in inter Science Subjects like Bio-physics & Geophysics is also under taken. In the beginning Subjects Taught were English Literature, Sanskrit, Persian, Logic, History, Political Economy, Mathematics and Science. The Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) course consists of following subjects- Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Zoology, Botany, Statistics, Geology. An honors course consists of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
The Holkar Science College additionally offers vocational course in Industrial Fisheries, Fisheries & Seed technology, with High-tech courses in Computer, Electronics, Micro-biology, Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Bio-technology. The Institute offers a 2 year duration Master of Science (M.Sc) course in Bio-chemistry, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Statistics, Physics, and Zoology. Devi Ahilya University has recognized this college as a research centre. Research scholars can have admission here as per the rules. The college has rich infrastructure with modern facilities. Facilities consists of a well-stocked central library, Computer Centre, Examination Data Processing Cell, Academic Staff College, SC/ST CELL ,Coaching Classes for SC/ST/Minorities, Counseling & Placement Cell.
