The University of Mauritius is Mauritius's oldest university. It is the largest university in the country interms of student enrollment and curriculum offered. The public university's main campus is locatedat Moka, Réduit. The University of Mauritius comprises five faculties- Agriculture, Engineering, Lawand Management, Science, and Social Studies & Humanities. It has also a Centre for Medical Research and Studies, a Centre for Distance Education, a Centre for Information Technology and Systems, and a Consultancy Centre.
The University offers part and full time courses in all faculties along with some courses are commenced in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi Institute, the course include BA (Hons.) in various streams and Diploma in Digital Arts.
The University has a highly qualified and trained faculty of about 1048 teachers, dedicated to provide career guidance and quality education to students. The University has rich infrastructure with latest facilities, the campus includes Public Relations office, Medical Facility, Souvenir shop within the campus.
The University of Mauritius Multipurpose Gymnasium which provides state of the art facilities was inaugurated on the 4th October 2004. The University encourages students to participate in sports and has facilities for many indoor and outdoor sports. The Campus is entirely Wi-Fi enabled for ease of students and faculty members.
The University hosts a Center for Information Technology & Systems which includes about 450 personnel computers with latest equipments. Students at the University can make full use of Computer lab facilities available on the campus. In addition to these facilities the University of Mauritius houses a high-technology Research, Consultancy & Innovation center.
