Patna Womens College was established in the year 1940, it is  first college who provided the higher education in Bihar, it is founded by the Bishop B.J. Sullivan and Mother Josephine A.C. . It is a also a first women college in Patna who offers education to the women. The motto of the college is to provide the best quality of education to the students who can pursue their career and become independent. Patna Womens College is the first college who is still committed to the holistic community of women.

The objective of the college is to encourage the students who wants to study and make their career. The mission of the college is to show the right path to the students, cherish their responsibilities and duties and make them loyal towards their country, society and the organization where they are working. There are various department in the Patna Womens College such as

B.Sc Honors – Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany
B.A.- English, Urdu, Hindi, Sanskrit, Home Science, Philosophy, Economics, History, Geography, Sociology
B.Com-
Professional Courses- Industrial Microbiology, Computer Application, Advertising , Sales Promotion , Mass Communication, Business Administration
Post Graduation- Diploma- Fashion Designing, Computer Application, Advertising and Sales Management.

The Patna Womens College is having a wide range of books, it has around 59155 books, 75 journals and many other subject related books for the preference all these books are available in the library where students have the opportunity to take reference for the respective subject.
