The beautiful Palacial city of Patiala, is one of the major educational hub in Punjab. With 3 universities, government colleges & a number of engineering colleges including its natural beauty, the Patiala is the city which number of students dream of. Starting with universities, patiala has on its land, THAPAR university, PUNJABI university, & CHITKARA university. THAPAR university (T.U.) a well established university is known for its best engineering courses in mechanical, civil, electrical etc. & is thronged by students all over India. CHITKARA university also a private university & newly opened one attracts students from north India. Third & most important in Punjab is PUNJABI university, which apart from engineering has much to offer to people in love with literature, dramatics, art. Also offers courses in public administration, home science etc. Many eminent writers & philosophers have emerged from P.U.
Its not that Patiala attracts only engineering students but also those who aspire to be doctors with government medical college, RAJINDRA college, GIAN SAGAR medical college etc. known for producing good doctors & dentists respectively. A large number of students do their degree in M.B.B.S., PHARMACY, nursing etc. at these colleges. Another important college named MOHINDRA college which is the oldest college in north India offers courses in commerce, arts, political sciences, physical education etc. Also a number of private colleges have brimmed up in Patiala making this small but pretty city an important one for students.
