A two-year qualification, the postgraduate diploma in business management (PGDBM) is open to all students who have completed their undergraduate studies and seek employment in various functional areas of marketing and finance. Admission is usually based on an entrance test and interview; however, different institutes may have their own eligibility requirements.
The syllabus includes subjects such as management practice, financial management, marketing management, micro and macro economics, business mathematics, production and operations management, contemporary trends and strategies in business, computer applications in management, business communication, decision making, business law, research methods for business, strategic management, logistics and materials management, project management and entrepreneurship development, business environment and business ethics. Students can also opt for specialization in various finance and marketing subjects, such as financial services, security analysis, portfolio management, financial restructuring, project appraisal, treasury and forex management, financial derivatives, strategic financial management, retail banking and wealth management, taxation and company law, advertising and sales promotion, product and brand management, marketing strategies, consumer behaviour, customer relationship management, sales and distribution management, international marketing, marketing services, rural marketing, and retail marketing management.
