A two-year postgraduate qualification in finance, Master in Financial management or MFM is open to all students who have completed undergraduate studies in commerce or related fields. Admission is based on an entrance test and interview. However, different institutes may have their own requirements.
The course is multi-disciplinary and covers a broad range of related subjects, from accounting and finance to mathematics and computer technology. Modules include financial management, financial markets and services, advanced management accounting, policy and regulatory framework of financial markets, economic environment of business, quantitative techniques for business decisions, marketing management, research methods for business, organizational behaviour, analysing financial statements, investment management, using MS Excel for finance, managing banking and financial institutions, financial modelling, risk management, corporate restructuring and business valuations, business ethics, laws and practices, new venture financing and entrepreneurship, and behavioural finance and capital markets. At the end of the course, students can join public and private companies, banks and other financial institutes like accounting and audit firms in various capacities.
