This one-year course can be pursued by students completing class 12. The course usually has two semesters. The first semester introduces students to the stock market and the various other money markets, primary and secondary markets; stock exchange; investment alternatives; trading and settlement; security analysis; speculation and hedging; derivatives, and trading strategies. The second semester covers financial systems, regulatory framework, government securities, mutual funds, commodity and forex markets, commodity markets and trading in commodities, portfolio management, inflation, and interest rates. Although these are the basic modules, the syllabus may vary slightly between institutes. Nevertheless, at the end of the course students can up trading professionally, work with stock brokers as well as in banks.
