ABOUT

The Miranda House is a historic house located in the city of Indianapolis, Indiana. It was built in 1858 by Dr. George W. Fallis and served as his home until 1875. The house was later purchased by John H. Holliday, who used it as a boardinghouse for women working at the nearby Union Depot railroad station. In 1901, the Miranda House was donated to the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, who turned it into a convent and school for young girls. The convent closed in 1975 and the house fell into disrepair.
In 1990, the Miranda House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and underwent extensive restoration work. It is now open to the public as a museum and event venue. The Miranda House is one of only two remaining Italianate villas from the early days of Indianapolis' history and is an important part of the city's heritage.
