An extremely popular master's course, the MBA or Master's of Business Administration is sought after by thousands of youth seeking better career prospects. Generally a two-year course in India, the MBA is pursued after a regular 3 or 4-year degree. However, the best institutes prefer students with work experience. Ideally students seeking admission to the top business schools in India, such as the IIMs, should work for a year or more before applying for this course. An MBA is available in a number of fields, both technical, such as the MBA in biotechnology, and non-technical, such as Human Resource (HR) and Marketing. It's generally seen that students with specialized degrees, such as B.Tech, opt for an MBA in a non-technical field, such as Marketing, or Finance. This gives them a more holistic experience, and they also develop the necessary soft-skills for the higher echelons in business and management.
Most MBA courses in India require students to appear for the CAT (Common Admission Test). However, some institutes also have their separate tests. These examinations test the technical ability of students, as well as their personality and aptitude. In addition to the written component, they also judge students in person, through means like group discussion and personal interview.
