Colleges for Engineering (B.Tech)
|
B.Tech or Bachelor of Technology is a 4-year undergraduate degree in engineering, which students pursue after 10+2. It is available in a multitude of fields. Aerospace, Chemical, Civil, Computer Science, Electrical, and Mechanical engineering are among the most common B.Tech courses taken up by students. A good way of determining whether you are suited for this course, is by seriously pondering on how much you enjoyed maths and science in school. This course is best for those with a scientific aptitude and high mechanical and numerical ability. If Shakespeare was more your deal than Pythagoras, then it's worth questioning your choice of degree, although sometimes the best of authors are from engineering backgrounds!
Since B.Tech is a specialized degree, students are required to take entrance examinations for it. Most institutes accept the results of the AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Exam). However, some have their own entrance exams. Most notable among these is the IIT JEE (Indian Institute of Technology's Joint Entrance Exam). It's best to check well in advance, whether the institute of your choice has its own entrance exam. Going by the vast number of students appearing in these entrance exams, B.Tech is clearly a popular choice among students completing their schooling. An important factor driving this popularity is the job market, which readily accepts B.Tech graduates.
