|
Instrumentation as the name suggests is the study of design of instruments. Designing an instrument in terms of its calibration, adding a measurement system, making the system compatible to surroundings is the main objective of instrumentation studies. Most important of these is related to developing a measurement system. Finding errors in measurement, improper functioning of instruments & changes occurred due to these, dealing with corrective measures are all a core of this subject. Instrumentation also has resemblance to electrical as well as electronics branch. Study of electrical circuits, electronic circuits, transistors, junctions, etc., are all an integral part of this branch. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE which finds its application in robotics & computer games is also included in this field which is really interesting topic of this branch. Modern day instrumentation includes Bio medical instrumentation which finds use in designing measuring instruments in the medical field. Some important of these are E.C.G. machine, pulse & heart rate measuring machine, ultrasound etc. Moving further instrumentation finds its use in developing systems for railways, aircraft control, in army etc. Instrumentation engineers can get jobs in R&D units of public and private sector companies. The Heavy industries such as Thermal Power Stations, Steel Plants, Refineries, and Cement and Fertilizer Plants also hire instrumentation engineers in good numbers. Some might still prefer to go for sales & marketing or even may opt for consultancy services. Instrumentation itself has become a very important field.
